Amber Valletta came decked out to the Nickelodeon Kids Choice awards earlier this week, in three locket necklaces, a big trend right now in fashion jewelry. The jewelry buying public is realizing that meaning and symbols can fit in with fashion, and it looks much cooler than conspicuous consumption. Amber has always been a big promotor of designer jewelry, and was the face of David Yurman.

Another piece of evidence supporting our “Pearls are in for Spring” theory. Here is singer Mya spotted yesterday, while speaking at the North Shore Animal League America’s 8th Annual Tour for Life press conference, wearing a pair of subtle dangling pearl earrings.

Sarah Jessica Parker was seen around town earlier this week wearing a long, single strand pearl necklace. Pearls are making a huge statement for spring in Fashion Jewelry. More pearls to come…

Another trend in fashion jewelry popping up everywhere this spring, is the combination of wood with gold or silver jewelry. Here’s Demi Moore arriving at the David Letterman show, where she appeared as a guest, earlier this week, wearing some wood and silver earrings.

Once again, tiny jewelry is showing up everywhere this spring.  Vanessa Minnillo was spotted today in Hollywood sporting a minuscule cross necklace.   It practically requires a magnifying glass to see this thing!  We think sometimes it is better to wear gold on a small scale, like Vanessa does, particularly when dressing casual.  You can get away with wearing huge designer silver jewelry pieces casually,  however, because silver jewelry is less flashy than gold.  Very cute, Vanessa.

Demi Moore pictured here at last night’s screening of the movie “Flawless“. Her silver earrings feature a threaded silver chain with one bezel set diamond hanging on the end of each earring. Bucking the fashion jewelry trand featuring giant hoop earrings, she chooses a more minimalist look.

Pop singer Robyn is also rebelling against the Huge Hoop Earrings trend by sporting a pair of diminutive gold oval shaped hoop earrings to London’s Capital Awards this week. As summer approaches, we are seeing a lot of smaller scale fashion jewelry pieces.

Tori Spelling came out to promote her new book, “Stori Telling” at Barnes & Noble last week wearing some big designer jewelry pieces (none of which appear to be one of her signature jewelry pieces she sells at HSN).  First, is an amulet necklace with a huge pendant in a dark stone (perhaps, Black Onyx) and a woven cuff bracelet.

Nicole Richie wore a tiny designer jewelry necklace to the DCMA flagship store opening.  The scale of the necklace and the style looks perfect, and we are sorry we couldn’t find a better photo of it.
