Marisa Tomei wore a very cool designer jewelry piece to the 2008 Film Independent Spirit awards last week.  It is a multi strand silver mesh chain necklace with a fish shaped high polish pendant with blackened recesses.  It is modern and fresh.  We love it.

We were surprised to see funny man and Fu Fighters’ lead singer Dave Grohl dressed so smartly at Clive Davis’ Grammy party earlier this week.  He even - gasp - completed his look with a nice piece of designer jewelry.  Here he is with a silver cross necklace, very original in design.  It appears to have a matte finish and a custom clasp on a black leather or silk cord.

Here’s proof that one can never go wrong with mixing and matching link-style designer jewelry.  Here is a shot of Alicia Keys performing at Clive Davis’ pre-grammy party, looking stunning in a pair of link earrings that are so huge they have their own area code.  It was smart of her to avoid a competing necklace, with these danglers, but the link bracelet looks fantastic with them.

Just like Kate Hudson, Alicia Keys has discovered if your jewelry works, wear it twice in one week.  Here Alicia is performing at the 2008 Grammy Awards looking gorgeous in her huge silver cuff bracelet and gigantic silver hoop earrings.  She also wore the earrings during her recent Superbowl performance.

Ringo Starr wore a tasteful silver necklace with an Om symbol pendant to the 2008 Grammy Awards.  The Om symbol seems to be the modern equivalent of the peace symbol.

Is it our imagination, or are more rappers ditching the bling in favor of more tasteful, sophisticated designer jewelry? Our case in point, is Snoop Dogg at the 2008 Grammy Awards on Sunday.  This shield-shaped silver necklace is striking.

Here is Kate Hudson, presenting on MTV’s TRL on February 5th.  Kate Hudson wore this same stack of silver bracelets to the Superbowl.   She wears a Chrome Hearts cuff bracelet, two silver bangle bracelets and one silver chain bracelet.  They all work together very well.

These larger-than-life silver hoop earrings graced the earlobes of Alicia Keys during her performance at this week’s Superbowl.  The huge silver hoop earring is a trend that seems to be sticking around.

We’re not sure who made these AMAZING sculptural hoop earrings that Debra Messing wore to this week’s New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  They look like something that fell off a tree, with their swooping organic shape.  Gorgeous!  This is a great example of beautiful designer jewelry that you can pass on for generations.
